A reading sheet is most useful when you can explain every annotation on it. Start with a short, known sentence, compare the two reading rows, then decide whether you need plain text, parenthesized readings or a saved document.
Start with a sentence you can check
Open Chinese to Zhuyin. Paste 你好,世界。 into Chinese text, then choose Show pronunciation. This short example means “Hello, world.” It is long enough to show word grouping and punctuation without making the review difficult.
The tool looks up Chinese words and characters; it does not translate English into Chinese. Paste the Chinese you want to study, rather than a Roman spelling. If you are composing a message from sounds, start in the Zhuyin keyboard and bring the finished text here.
Keep a copy of an important original before editing it. In this task, the Chinese text remains the reference: the annotations are an aid for reading it, not a replacement for checking what the sentence says.
Inspect each reading before using it
The verified result contains two reading rows. 你好 has ㄋㄧˇ ㄏㄠˇ and nǐ hǎo; 世界 has ㄕˋ ㄐㄧㄝˋ and shì jiè. The comma and full stop remain in the text preview.
Turn on Zhuyin annotations in Text preview if the readings are hidden. The preview places readings above their matched words. In this example, 你好 is grouped together, as is 世界. Do not expect every annotation to be attached to a single character.
For your own text, inspect names and unfamiliar words carefully. A row can show alternative readings, and an unmatched character may have no reading. The tool reports dictionary matches, so a familiar-looking annotation can still need checking against the intended meaning.
Choose the copy format for your destination
Use Copy Zhuyin when you need the readings as plain text. Punctuation is retained where it appears in the analyzed text. This is useful for a study note beside the original sentence or for a small pronunciation exercise.
Use Copy text + Zhuyin when the recipient needs both. It copies the Chinese words followed by their readings in parentheses, rather than promising that another application will preserve raised annotations. Our example becomes 你好(ㄋㄧˇ ㄏㄠˇ),世界(ㄕˋ ㄐㄧㄝˋ)。.
Check the pasted result in the destination. Plain-text fields do not carry the preview’s layout. To continue editing Chinese text, choose Use text in keyboard; this transfers the Chinese text, not a picture of the annotated preview.
Save and reopen the annotated sheet
Choose Save annotated HTML. The downloaded file is zhuyin-annotated.html. Open it in a browser and check that 你好 and 世界 still have their readings. The saved document uses HTML ruby annotations, so the text remains selectable.
The example above reproduces the actual words and readings from that export as readable HTML. The downloaded file is a simple study document with its own formatting; it is not an image or a Word document. Its spacing can differ slightly from the on-page preview.
You can print the downloaded document through your browser. Check the paper size and print preview first. Keep a copy of the original Chinese alongside the sheet when you are preparing material for a class or correcting a reading later.
Common questions
Why is Listen unavailable on my device?
Listen depends on a local Mandarin speech voice supplied by your device and browser. A disabled button does not prevent dictionary lookup or export. The tool can still produce the written annotations.
Does hiding annotations remove them from the download?
The preview checkbox controls the visible preview. Save annotated HTML creates an annotated document from the analyzed readings, even when the preview’s annotations are hidden.
Can I save one word for later typing?
Choose Save phrase beside a reading row to open My phrases with that word and reading. Review both fields before saving your personal entry.
Will the sheet work after I close this page?
Yes. The saved HTML contains its text, readings and formatting. Open that file in a browser. Creating a fresh reading still requires the tool and its dictionary resources to load.
Build a reading sheet you can review.
Begin with one short sentence and check each word before saving.
