Readings follow dictionary words; names and context can have other pronunciations. Audio uses a local Mandarin voice when your device provides one.

Bring your own words.

A message from a friend, a sentence from your notes, or a word you keep seeing: start with something you want to understand. This tool shows pronunciation, rather than translating the meaning.

  1. Paste Chinese text and choose Show pronunciation.
  2. Read the word-by-word Zhuyin and Pinyin. Turn on Zhuyin annotations to see the readings above the text.
  3. Copy the readings, or save the annotated HTML. Open that file in a browser to read it offline or print a study sheet.

One character can have more than one reading.

In 音樂 (music), 樂 is read yuè; in 快樂 (happy), it is lè. Word-level dictionary matches help, but names, unusual phrases, and context can still need checking.

Annotations show dictionary tones. What you hear in a sentence may change through tone sandhi. Explore how tones work →

Listening is available when your device has a local Mandarin voice. A device voice is a useful aid, not a substitute for a teacher or a verified recording.
